Dear Friends and Fans,
Welcome to the first edition. Aaaaaaaaaaand GO!
Okay, I think I must’ve been linked or blogged or something, ‘cause for like a week there I was getting
emails and webhosting contacts from brand new people raving about our story and project. And a couple
of them said they were going to keep telling all of their friends about it, too! So let me start out by
welcoming all of you joining us recently. Proper hellos would take all day, but allow me to introduce the
main cast and crew:
Crew:
CJ Webster: Author and Project Director
Mathew Schmidt: Composer and Writer
Elijah Knuckles: Cinematographer and Tech Director
Alejandra Villegas: Character Design and Sketch Artist
Abbie Sunter: Artist and Animator
Voice Cast:
Alicia Goldberger: Cub Jothra
Susanna Bennison: Cub Zoay
Mathew Schmidt: Adult Jothra
So that’s us. Some of us have info on the site through the links on the Public Gallery (click on ‘Project’ on
the top navbar) and of course, all of our many and awesome artists have links on the home page. Speaking
of the website, yes, it needs a good update session or two, and that is forthcoming. A couple new artists,
some new art, and one or two broken links. If there’s anything you know of that needs tweaked, please let
me know. I’m also probably going to make the entire project site open to visitors. For those of you who
maybe haven’t checked it out yet, go to http://skysoldja.com/project/areyouin.html and click on the giant
link.
For those of you who have an artist or user account on The Lion King Fan-Art Archive (http://fanart.
lionking.org), the project has a joint-user account (and permission from Brian the Great to have one)
under the artist name Circle of Life, Inc. (http://fanart.lionking.org/Artists/Circle_of_Life__Inc/)
which, yes, also needs updating. I like having a folder for the artists and a folder for the characters, but I
need to change the up-front pictures and a few links etc. Anyway, once I update the website itself and the
artist account, we have an admin bulletin that Brian (the aforementioned Great) has agreed to post on the
Archive main page for a little while. For which he deserves some cookies.
Okay, so here’s where we are on the project in general. As many of you know, my first version of the
screenplay is copyrighted and represented by professional literary agents. Well, the time has certainly come
for me to send them an updated manuscript to send out to the Studios. This may take a little while, as my
agents need $285.00 to defray the cost of the mailings. But once this is done and my agents tell me the
screenplay has been received by Walt Disney Feature Animation, I also have the number to the studio to
talk things over with them. And personally, I’m just about done with this really awkward phase of being
between jobs and homes, which is the reason I’ve been so sporadic with everything. From next week through
April I should be a lot more stable and on top of things.
Well, I’ll leave it at that until the next email. Keep writing me and I’ll see you at Volume 2!
-CJ Webster
